No, America's Commander-in-Chief does not come into contact with any split-pee soup in the first clip from his upcoming episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls -- but he does encounter a piece of salmon that might not pass muster with the FDA.

A clip from the episode premiered on the Today show Tuesday morning. In it, Obama expresses some trepidation about dining with survival expert Grylls -- "I've seen some of the things Bear eats, and it's gotta be something that doesn't still have its legs and eyes on it. You know, I want it not to be... too recognizable" -- before Bear pulls out a moss-made package that contains a snack.

The good news: It's beautiful, pink Alaskan salmon. The bad news: Bear found it on a riverbank... and it's already been gnawed on by a genuine, nonhuman bear.

Shady provenance aside, Obama does try the half-eaten fish (after it's been cooked on a camping stove, of course). His verdict? "Bear's a mediocre cook" -- but it's not as bad as it looks. Although, Obama says, "it would've been nice if we'd had a cracker to go with it." Or an H&H Bagel, perhaps?

The full episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls (And Barack Obama) airs this fall on NBC.

Glad this was the only Bear I met in the park. -bo A photo posted by The White House (@whitehouse) on Sep 1, 2015 at 10:39pm PDT
