Barack Obama's celebratory messages on Twitter and Facebook rapidly went viral Tuesday evening, garnering hundreds of thousands of likes, shares and retweets in short order.
One of Obama's three tweets immediately following the victory quickly became his most retweeted ever, per @gov. As of this post, it has 267,410 retweets.

Over on Facebook, the same photo already has more than 857,000 likes and 120,000 shares just over a half an hour since it was posted:
It stands within reason that the Facebook photo will gain more than one million likes within an hour of being posted. Update: Indeed, the image topped 1 million likes 53 minutes after being posted.
Mitt Romney has yet to post anything online -- which makes sense, as the campaign has not yet conceded defeat.
