Yet more evidence that humanity's ancient contract with the octopus -- in which humans are given dominion over land and octopuses the sea -- is faltering.

In a video uploaded to LiveLeak, an octopus can be seen attempting to escape its Seattle Aquarium tank, probably looking to squirm its way to Washington D.C. to overthrow the government.

Luckily for aquarium-goers and the human race, the individual cephalopod's plan was foiled by a brave visitor who reached up and touched its icky wiggly arms, pushing the beast back into the tank from whence it came.

This is the third event in several weeks in which an octopus has shown its distaste for humanity. You may remember the dreaded land octopus from February, or the sick octopus that photographed a future attack victim using a stolen GoPro.

We have reached out to all of the world's governments for comment, and will let you know when we hear back.
