The virtual reality minds of Oculus Story Studio, the cinematic production arm of the Oculus Rift team, have taken the wraps off the studio's latest film called Dear Angelica.

Although we have yet to see a full trailer, the studio revealed a bit of how the new VR film looks in a brief clip that shows one of the illustrators using the Oculus Touch, along with the Oculus Rift headset, to paint some of the characters in real time.
Aside from the stunning and fluid imagery, the story itself appears to be rooted not in technology or the futuristic trappings of the VR Rather it involves the story a teenager (Jessica) who takes viewers on visual trips back into the memories of her childhood with her mother.
As you can see in the brief video (above), the style of the fluid VR illustration lends itself to what promises to be imaginative and colorful stories told throughout the film.
"To create this illustrative look and feel, the Story Studio team built an internal production tool that allows the film’s illustrators to paint entire scenes in VR using Oculus Touch," an Oculus Story Studio spokesperson told Mashable in an emailed statement.
"This technique frees artists from the traditional flat canvas of pen and paper and lets them create directly in VR."
The new film is a pretty big departure from the team's last film, Henry, which visually followed more in the 3D-animation steps of films like Finding Nemo and Inside Out from Pixar, albeit with an immersive angle unique to VR.
Dear Angelica is slated to debut for the Oculus Rift later this year.
