Police kill 1 in shooting at Ohio airport

Police shot and killed a man just outside the Port Columbus International Airport in Ohio on Wednesday afternoon.

The altercation happened at about 1 p.m. ET in the departures area, according to local station WBNS-10TV.

According to the station, an officer was called to the area just prior to the shooting. Police said the situation began with a fight involving a tow truck driver.

An airport spokeswoman confirmed the shooting, and airport officials announced that all car traffic has been redirected to the lower Arrivals level.

No other injuries have been reported.

The Columbus Police Critical Incident Response Team announced it will investigate the incident and review available surveillance footage and speak with witnesses. An investigation and presentation to a grand jury is standard for any officer-involved shootings.

Despite some delays, the airport is continuing to operate.
