Every autumn, thirsty fair-goers and beer-lovers gather in Munich, Germany for the largest festival in the world: Oktoberfest.

The 181st Oktoberfest kicked off on Saturday, Sept. 20 at noon after the Mayor of Munich, Dieter Reiter, ceremoniously tapped the first keg.

Approximately 6 million people will be attending the festival this year, and will consume 1.8 million gallons of beer before the festival ends Sunday, Oct. 5.

But if you can't travel to Germany for the event, you can at least celebrate the at your computer (beer in hand, of course), or through a number of mock Oktoberfest-style celebrations held around the world.

Prost!
