LAS VEGAS -- The best part of owning an Olympus Stylus Tough camera is that you never have to baby it. You can drop it, submerge it, freeze it, basically abuse it pretty hard and it'll most likely survive.

At CES, Olympus announced the Stylus Tough TG-870, the newest member in its rugged point-and-shoot camera series.

Just when you think a camera can get more durable, Olympus goes and makes it so. The TG-870 is waterproof up to 50 feet, can withstand 22 pounds of force, is freezeproof up to 14 degrees Fahrenheit, shockproof from seven feet and dustproof.

The camera's got 16-megapixels to work with and a 21-105mm f/3.5-5.7 lens with 5x optical zoom-- the widest lens ever for a Stylus Tough camera.

On the back, there's finally a screen that tilts 180-degrees upwards to make selfies easier. There's also a programmable button on the front of the camera, which can be mapped as a secondary shutter release button, trigger video recording or activate Super Macro Mode, to name a few options.

Connecting an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet with the Olympus Image Share app is possible via Wi-Fi.

For video recording, the TG-870's got a variety of shooting modes up to 1080p full HD at 60 frames per second (fps). It can also record slow-motion video at 120 fps at up to 854 x 480 resolution or 240 fps at up to 640 x 360 resolution.

Whether you're an adventurer who pushes life to the extreme in all kinds of weather conditions or a person who's a total klutz, the TG-870 is built like a tank to survive.

The TG-870 will launch in April in three colors (Gunmetal Metallic, Metallic Green and Pure White) for $279.99.
