Yesterday, Engadget told us that Microsoft was all up in the issue, seeking to resolve the problem and let us get back to slowly decimating the English language. They even issued a statement.

"The recently released Twitter for Zune HD application has been abbreviating some explicit words in tweets when viewed on the device; however these explicit words do appear in their full text on the Twitter site or on any other Twitter client. We have identified the issue and are taking steps to update the application as soon as possible to ensure Twitter for Zune HD users are able to view tweets in their original state."

And now, oh expletive enthusiasts, the curse has finally been lifted -- or reinstated as it were. The Zune HD Twitter app, version 1.1, lets you swear with abandon. Too bad it's still super buggy, according to Engadget.

Personally, I'm pretty much opposed to censorship, especially censorship of words that have become such a part of our vernacular so as to be positively benign. What do you think of the the Zune fiasco and the ensuing fix?
