No one wants to see a new place through a lens, but we all do it. The obsession with capturing and sharing the moment can keep us away from experiencing the best the world has to offer. Instead of relying on GPS, we could be exploring the paths less traversed when we visit someplace new. Instead of connecting to WiFi, we could be connecting with those around us. Instead of pouring over hotel and restaurant reviews, we could be forming our own opinions.

That’s why Cathay Pacific and Mashable teamed up to ask you where you’d go, and what you’d do, with one day completely removed from the Internet. That’s right -- no smartphones, no checking email, no social media, no distractions from a life well traveled – a deserved digital detox.

Naturally, we got your responses through social media, which you probably accessed through your phones, via the hashtag #onedayoffline. We know, we know – the tech addiction is real.

Here are some of your ideas on how to spend a day offline.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));Here are the most heartfelt promises so far! TV host Rachel Rudwall had some very basic, but important, plans for her day of digital detox.

What would you do with #onedayoffline? I'd "breathe. explore. give thanks." https://t.co/VQCPpPDEXn— Rachel Rudwall (@RachelRoams) September 24, 2015

Many of you wanted to go to the beach, like @itsmechris1991, who shared this beautiful view with us.

#onedayoffline what would I do? I would take my family out to Anawhata for an all day BBQ pic.twitter.com/GL7aVNDJZR— Christiana Malone (@itsmechris1991) October 1, 2015

And a lot of you wanted to spend time with your family.

Practising yoga outside with my mum is how I would spend my #OneDayOffline pic.twitter.com/EODuRd0M7j— Positively13 (@Positively13) September 23, 2015

It was kind of astonishing how many people said they wanted to get some reading done.

@mashable if I went #OneDayOffline I would probably read the whole day — Queen of My Land (@unicorn_isle) September 24, 2015

And some of you just wanted to enjoy nature without taking pictures.

#onedayoffline I am going to enjoy the scenery without the pressure of having to take pictures to share online. Just like the old times.— Ira Eijkelenboom (@bluenightgirl) September 19, 2015
