One Direction fans everywhere are celebrating — because the 1D just surprised them with the release of a new single.
The much-tweeted-about song is called "Drag Me Down," and was announced by the band on Thursday night as a preview of what's to come on their new album. It'll mark the band's first recording since the departure of former bandmate Zayn Malik.

This news comes in the wake of former One Direction-er Zayn Malik's announcement that he will be working on his own solo album; some feel that the song's release may be a jab at the group's former bandmate, or an attempt to steal his thunder.
Regardless of the intention, the point is: There's a new One Direction single.
