Inspiring One-Handed Phenom Gets College Basketball Offer

Zach Hodskins is one of the most inspiring basketball players you'll ever hear about. The 6-foot-3 guard was born without the bottom half of his left arm, but that hasn't stopped him from becoming a high school hoops star in Georgia. To see his eye-popping shooting, passing and ball-handling skills for yourself, just check out the YouTube video above, which went viral in December and has since been viewed more than 3.3 million times.

Hodskins' story got even better on Thursday, however, when it was reported that the University of Florida -- one of the nation's biggest college basketball powers -- offered him a roster spot on its team for after he graduates from high school next summer. Coach Bill Donovan is clearly impressed by what he's seen, too.

The Florida offer, first reported by Yahoo Sports, is for what's known as a "preferred walk-on" spot. That means he'd be guaranteed to make the team but wouldn't receive an athletic scholarship -- although it's possible he could be awarded one down the line. While not a full ride, such an offer from a school like Florida is the kind of opportunity thousands of young ball players dream of.

But that doesn't necessarily mean Hodskins will jump for it right away. Yahoo also reports that his stellar play has a couple of smaller schools -- the University of Alabama-Birmingham and Birmingham Southern -- mulling full scholarship offers. No matter what happens later, though, Hodskins took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to celebrate the good news:
