One Million iPhones and Ten Million iPhone Apps are a Good Start

Yes, the lines were not as long as the first time round. Yes, the hype was not that immense (pretty close, though) But still, the baby Jesus phone once again lived up to the hype; according to Apple, one million iPhones have been sold over the weekend, and ten million iPhone applications were downloaded.

These numbers are actually even more awe inspiring when you consider that the original iPhone is basically the same device it was when it was introduced over a year ago, with 3G and GPS as major additions. Try and imagine any other one year old phone being such a huge hit simply because a couple of features were added. That's right, there aren't that many; actually I can't think of anything like it.

Steve Jobs puts the numbers in perspective. "It took 74 days to sell the first one million original iPhones, so the new iPhone 3G is clearly off to a great start around the world." You can't argue with that.
