With the launch this week of online image "pimping" tool Graphita, we thought it was a good time to look at some of the more interesting players in this market. Below: 6 good ones compared.

XMG Image - XMG Image not only provides online photo editing, but also image hosting. Editing features include crop, rotate and all the other basics, as well as more advanced features like image enhancement. Images are also versioned, so you don't have to worry about screwing up that great photo of your cat. Phixr - Phixr is a pretty advanced online photo editor, more akin to Photoshop than most others (okay, maybe more like Photoshop Elements). It has some very cool filters and effects (the pop art effect can do some pretty cool things), and it's easy to use. Plus, you can import images from Flickr, Fotopic, Photobucket, Picasa, Smugmug, and Webshots, as well as from any URL and from your local hard drive. When you're done editing, you can save as a JPG, PNG, PDF, GIF or perform OCR (text recognition). You can then email it or upload it to all of the above, as well as Buzznet, Costco, DropShots, Fotolog, ImageShack, or LiveJournal. Pixenate - Pixenate is a good general purpose image editor for use with photos on your hard drive or images already online. It has tools for zooming, enhancing, cropping, resizing, whitening, red eye, sepia and more. You can then upload it to Flickr or save it to your local computer. There aren't any really advanced features, but it is very easy to use. [img src="http://sale-online.click/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/pixerus.png" caption="" credit="" alt="pixerus"]

pixer.us - pixer.us has all the basic features you would expect from an online photo editor, including resizing, rotating, cropping, brightness & contrast, saturation and more. There are also color effects (sepia, greyscale, invert, etc.), and special effects, including "jitter", "wood" and "oil painting" among others. [img src="http://sale-online.click/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/cellsea.png" caption="" credit="" alt="cellsea"]

Cellsea - An online photo editor that includes all the basics (rotate, resize, crop, etc.), as well as ways to correct deficiencies in photos, turn your photos into paintings, distort photos, and add professional blur effects. You can load images from your PC, an image URL, a web page, or from a Google search, and they have sample images you can use also. The UI is very user-friendly, and has a pretty intuitive interface. The different special effects tools work relatively well, making this a good all-around, free photo editor.
