Now, the folks at Facebook have realized they're not that good at this marketplace business, so they've decided to let Oodle handle it. The new Marketplace will be integrated into the site pretty much like other third-party applications, and will be launched in the first quarter of 2009.

What makes this a very interesting piece of news is the fact that Oodle already handles MySpace's Marketplace, which makes it a very dominant force in the classifieds space, at least as far as social networks go. And they go far: last I checked, together Facebook and MySpace have had well over 200 million unique monthly visitors and around 100 billion page views. That's a lot of eyes; whether those eyes are interested in buying and selling stuff on their favorite social network remains to be seen.
