LONDON -- Open House London, the city's annual open access architecture festival, returns for its 23rd year this September, offering a peek behind some usually closed doors across the capital.

10 Downing Street and the BT Tower are among the highlights, while skyscrapers, mausoleums and even a sliced up boat will be welcoming visitors on Saturday and Sunday Sept. 19 and 20.

The biggest hitters like the PM's digs require you to enter a ballot, but plenty are open to walk-ups on a first come, first served basis. The only difficulty is narrowing down the numerous options to a weekend-friendly itinerary.

You can either order a copy of the printed programme to help your planning, or browse the website, which has just gone live (Aug. 14). The Open House app (69p, rising to £2.99 from Sept. 2) also lets you create your own schedule.

Here are some of this year's highlights.
