Oracle Buys Social Media Marketing Firm Involver

Oracle has purchased social media marketing firm Involver, the latest in a slew of such companies that have been bought up by bigger players.

Involver announced the news on its website Tuesday. "The combination of Involver with Oracle is expected to create the most advanced and comprehensive cloud-based social solution, across marketing, sales and service touch points," the post reads. "Our technology is expected to extend Oracle’s social platform to help customers more easily and cost-effectively collaborate and build engaging applications and social experiences across social networks and the Open Graph." Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition comes on the heels of Oracle's $300 million purchase of Vitrue, another social media marketing firm, in May. The following month, there were two other big purchases in the category -- Salesforce's BuddyMedia acquisition for $800 million and Microsoft's $1 billion purchase of Yammer.
