Final Fantasy VII, arguably the greatest Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) of all time, will arrive on iOS devices this summer.

Square Enix executive producer Shinji Hashimoto made the announcement at the company's E3 press conference on Tuesday.

Final Fantasy VII follows Cloud Strife and his posse as he traverses through Midgar to stop the evil Shinra Electric Power Company from draining the planet's life.

Final Fantasy VII for iOS will be a port of the original game released on the Sony PlayStation in 1997. It will be the first time the game will be available on mobile devices.

It's worth noting Final Fantasy VII was not designed to be played while on the go; it takes roughly 45 to 55 hours to finish and longer if you actually want to complete everything.

Square Enix also announced the HD version of Final Fantasy VII (same one as the PC version) for PS4 has been delayed until December. The game was originally slated to be available on PS4 this spring.

Pricing wasn't announced, but based on the $15.99 Square Enix charges for Final Fantasy VI on iOS, it may not be cheap.
