Sorry, Taylor Swift, the coolest celebrity to spot in New York City is now a lamb.

On March 17, a photo of a lamb grabbing an outdoor brunch at Five Leaves in Brooklyn started making the rounds, and people were curious about the story behind the cosmopolitan creature.

Turns out, Smokey is a recent transplant chasing his dreams in the Big Apple. According to The New York Post, he nearly froze to death when he was abandoned by his mother in West Winfield, New York, but a farmer brought him indoors and helped him warm up.

Sandy Dee Hall, co-owner and chef at Black Tree restaurant and bar, told The Post that he had wanted to take in an abandoned lamb to care for. When he heard about Smokey, he and girlfriend Maxine Cher drove to Violet Hill Farm to pick up the tiny lamb, who was just four days old, and snuck him into their Lower East Side apartment.

Since then, Smokey has been spotted around town, taking in all the fine dining and nightlife that New York City has to offer. If you snap a selfie with Smokey, be sure to use his official hashtag: #SmokeyDaLamb.
