John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne first met Sharon Arden, daughter of Black Sabbath’s manager Don Arden, in 1970. Ozzy was the lead singer for the band, which was one of the pioneers of the heavy metal genre. After Ozzy was fired from the band in 1979 because of substance abuse and erratic behavior, Sharon became his solo career manager, and then his girlfriend.The two were married on July 4, 1982, about seven months after Ozzy famously bit the head off a live bat during a concert in Des Moines, Iowa. Ozzy claimed he chose Independence Day for the nuptials so that he would be less likely to forget their anniversary. While Ozzy’s solo career took off, and he continued to cope with drug and alcohol abuse, the couple had three children: Aimee, Kelly and Jack. In 1987, they were photographed at their home, 15 years before their family became a reality TV sensation.
