Get ready to party, Milwaukee -- your hometown hero is coming back to its roots.

Pabst Brewing Company has been sold twice in the last five years and is now based in Los Angeles, but it plans to reopen its Milwaukee brewery, which has been shuttered for nearly two decades, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

And it's rolling out the red carpet.

By the time the brewery reopens in summer 2016, it will include a tasting room and a restaurant (including a beer garden), all located in a former church that was used as office space by the company. Thirsty visitors can look forward to brewery tours, memorabilia and a host of brand new beers inspired by Pabst beers of the past, according to a press release.

Milwaukee is so excited to have Pabst back after its 20-year hiatus that Mayor Tom Barrett went so far as to call it the "prodigal son" returning home. Hey, if our prodigal son made bowling night libations so awesome, we would be pumped to have him home, too.
