LOS ANGELES -- Bad news if you're a ghost. Good news for anyone else. Classic game icon Pac-Man is joining Nintendo's fighting game Super Smash Bros. for the upcoming releases on the Wii U and 3DS, the company confirmed at E3 Tuesday.
Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed the announcement at a special event dedicated to the game Tuesday night. Pac-Man will appear as he did in the arcade game Pac-Land, but will also look like his original "pizza face" mode for some attacks.
After showing a screen with Mario, Pac-Man, Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega-Man, all playable characters in Smash Bros., Sakurai said, "We have four of the most famous video game characters on the same screen battling each other. It really is a miracle.
I’m aiming to make this the number one character-based fighter in the world."
In the above trailer, some of Pac-Man's special moves are visible. Super Smash Bros. will also feature Pac-Man based power-ups and items, like the memorable dots and fruit.
