Palm App Catalog

Get used to hearing that phrase: the Palm App Catalog. It's the probable name of Palm's rival to the iPhone App Store, according to the Palm Developer Network...and it holds a great deal of promise for those of us obsessed with web applications.

Apps written for the WebOS platform on the new Palm Pre phone (demoed above) will appear in this new catalog, which also competes with upcoming players like Google's Android Market and the BlackBerry App Center. In short: web app developers will soon have another platform to build for, and another chance at wide-scale distribution of their apps.

In fact, apps from the Palm Apps Catalog could become a Mashable favorite: applications for the Palm WebOS will be based on HTML5, CSS and javascript...no different from typical web applications.
