The panel discussion at the closing of DEMOfall was rather interesting, and included a good spread, with Ed Baig of USA Today, John M. Jordan, Ph.D. of th Smeal College of Business, Pennsylvania State University, Scott Sangster, the Director of Strategic Planning and Development from Disney and Kara Swisher, Co-Executive Editor of The Wall Street Journal participating. John Gallant, President & Editorial Director of Network World, moderated the panel.
The purpose of the panel discussion is to address market opportunities, and the products that should be developed for the future. What we got was a good amount of cynicism regarding the social networking community, and while a lot of great points were brought up, it seemed to be more critical than helpful. One woman in the audience found this to be the case, and actually asked the panel to take a stance. Offer more ideas and suggestions regarding the direction in which the developers community should go. She was asking for answers, really. She didn't get any.
