Naomi Lucking, an English major at the University of Southhampton, experienced a rather unusual method of flirtation while hanging out in the library on Tuesday.

A prospective suitor apparently handed Lucking an envelope, which he had turned into a WhatsApp display, with the help of some pen doodles. Inside the envelope was a hand-drawn simulated message exchange, in which the fellow in question asked Lucking out for coffee.

Some guy in the library gave me this and it was the most awkward experience of my life. 10/10 for creativity though pic.twitter.com/QbxPxvEKdQ— Naomi (@naomilucking) November 17, 2015

The fake chat allowed for two possible responses from Lucking: "Sure! Why not? Life is short :)" and "No thanks! I have a 7 ft tall boyfriend :)."

So, basically, this creative stranger concocted the modern equivalent of the "Do you like me? Check yes or no" note.

Lucking tweeted about the unique envelope encounter, saying "it was the most awkward experience of my life. 10/10 for creativity though." When asked how she responded, Lucking said that she tried to let the guy down as gently as she could:
