If your squad goals do not include internationally renowned artists who have been detained by the Chinese government for dissidence, maybe you should reconsider the crowd you roll with.

Paris Hilton, for example, took selfies with Ai Weiwei, considered by many to be the most influential contemporary Chinese artist, at his most recent show. Er Xi, Air de Jeux, which translates to, Child's Play at Bon Marché, a department store in Paris. The work is inspired by youth and Chinese mythology.

In 2011, Weiwei, a vocal critic of the Chinese government, was detained by the authorities and held without charges for 81 days. In 2007, Paris Hilton served two days of her 40-day jail sentence for violating probation after her drunk driving arrest, so same thing, really.

The pals showed a lot of love for each other on Instagram.

Hilton's support of Ai Weiwei is incredibly generous, because as viewers of The OC may recall, Hilton invented the selfie back in 2004.
