Times have changed since the early '00s. Flip phones have given way to smartphones; LiveJournal has given way to Tumblr; the Hilton sisters have given way to the Kardashian sisters.

But even if Paris and Nicky aren't quite the punchlines they once were, plenty of people still hold onto some residual disdain for the most notorious socialites of the early aughts. And one of those people, apparently, is actor Ramez Galal, Egypt's answer to Ashton Kutcher.

Galal hosts a prank show in Egypt called Ramez Wakel el-Gaw, or Ramez in Control. Episodes feature hapless celebrities who believe they're being taken to a hotel opening in Dubai, but shortly after a star boards the plane, chaos ensues -- and everything's heightened by a masked Galal, who is seated next to the unknowing celeb.

One of those unknowing celebs was Paris Hilton. The chaos is kicked off when the plane appears to fail in midair, prompting mass panic. That's right: Galal made Paris believe that she was about to die in a fiery plane crash. Um... hilarious?

You may get a tiny twinge of schadenfreude from watching the clip. Mostly, though, this "joke" just seems cruel -- especially since Hilton really seems to believe she's moments away from death. Nobody deserves that -- not even the woman who inflicted "Drunk Text upon us.

Scariest moment of my life. I really believed the plane was going to crash & we were all going to die. http://t.co/nWG1eQjl4P— Paris Hilton (@ParisHilton) June 28, 2015
