Parking is kind of a big deal, when you're late for a meeting or when you want to pay the least amount of money for a spot. But it's an industry that's been quite difficult for web-based services to penetrate. Like the majority of US small businesses, the parking industry has yet to find an optimal way in which to utilize the Internet.
But that hasn't stopped ParkingSpots.com. The company is already off to a decent start (get a load of that domain name). And unlike most of the web-based parking service I've come across, ParkingSpots takes the long tail approach in targeting individuals that would like to make extra cash by renting out their spots.
Craigslist has typically been the service of choice for finding and renting parking spots, which is why I'd be further impressed with ParkingSpots if it had a definitive manner in which it integrated with existing social networks, or mobile and navigation devices.
