Oh, so when Van Gogh cuts his ear off for a lover it's romantic, but when this guy does it for his parrots it's "disturbing?"

Ted Richards, a 56-year-old English man from Bristol, recently had both of his ears removed in a six hour operation. His goal? To look more like his five pet parrots.

Richards is a body modification enthusiast who's been branding, piercing and tattooing himself since 1976. He already has several feather-like tattoos on his face (110 on his body in total) and says that he's now looking for a surgeon who will help turn his nose into a beak.

“I think it looks really great. I love it. It’s the best thing that has happened to me," Richards told SWNS.

In this author's opinion, Richards doesn't look as much like a parrot as he does a tattooed man without ears, but we applaud his determination.

Richards says that his main recovery issue has been figuring out how to keep his glasses on. As a fix, he had two metal pins inserted into the side of his head.

Your move, Marvel -- Parrot Man definitely has a ring to it.
