Two passengers got into a fight on a plane at Miami International Airport on Friday, prompting police to evacuate the plane.
American Airlines Flight 139 was originally scheduled to leave Miami at 12:20 p.m., local time, but did not depart until 2:52 p.m. according to FlightAware.
Witnesses told Miami-Dade police that one of the two passengers referenced a bomb.
Another passenger who was on the flight told the Miami Herald that the captain made an announcement, saying someone "muttered something that sounded like a threat."
Umm.. some guy just got kicked off my flight for claiming his mother was a terrorist and that "he won't blow up our plane".. very strange— Marvin Fisher (@Marvin_Fisher) February 20, 2015
Now everyone is getting off the plane for safety. #TravelChronicles— Marvin Fisher (@Marvin_Fisher) February 20, 2015
The same passenger told the Herald that police escorted the man off the plane.
Don't worry guys, the terrorist isn't on my plane anymore. pic.twitter.com/fcQ0NGvPdH— Brant Hawk (@branthawk) February 20, 2015
Fliers were asked to leave the plane "as a precaution," according to local reports.
American Airlines told Mashable on Friday that the flight "was delayed because of a disruptive passenger who made a statement that caused concern. Law enforcement was on scene, and detained the disruptive passenger and pulled the passenger's luggage."
It said passengers re-boarded at 2:15 p.m., local time, in Miami and that the flight is scheduled to arrive at 5:47 p.m., local time, in Los Angeles.
There were no reports of injuries.
