Two passengers on an easyJet flight from Faro, Portugal, to Southend, United Kingdom, this weekend were arrested upon arrival after allegedly abusing and threatening cabin crew.

The 23-year-old woman and 42-year-old man appeared to be drunk, according to passengers. The passengers' behavior was even worse, they said, because the flight was already delayed seven hours because of technical problems.

"After numerous attempts by the cabin crew to quieten [sic] them down, they continued shouting, annoying passengers, slapping the cabin crew on their backsides as they passed the cabin," a passenger told Mirror in the UK. "Many people on board had to complete witness statements. We sat on the runway at Southend and police boarded the plane and arrested the pair."

'The woman kept repeating that she was a school teacher," another passenger said, "which was quite unbelievable at the language she was using in front of my primary school age children."

The airline confirmed that EZY7362 was met by police at Southend Airport "due to the disruptive behaviour of a passenger on board."

"easyJet does not tolerate any abusive or threatening behaviour on board and on the rare occasion an incident occurs, crew are trained to deal with the situation."

Police confirmed that two people were arrested at about 7:30 p.m. local time on Jan. 3 at Southend Airport.
