The tide of acceptance and inclusion is rising in professional sports, and Major League Baseball, bastion of open-minded thinking that it is, has just welcomed its first amphibious pitcher to its storied ranks.

At least, that's true if you read the East Oregonian. The newspaper recently printed a delightful typo in the headline of an article about Oakland A's pitcher Pat Venditte, who throws ambidextrously from the mound.

Here's a look at the marvelous misprint, courtesy of Colorado State journalism adviser Neill Woelk.

Favorite headline of week. He pitches righty, lefty — and evidently, also underwater. Faces Aquaman in next outing. pic.twitter.com/efxaQxFp8Z— Neill Woelk (@NeillWoelk) June 8, 2015

A simple mistake -- but a hilarious mistake.

In other news, however: Holy crap, an ambidextrous pitcher! That's actually really cool. Venditte made his Major League debut on June 5, getting a strikeout in two scoreless innings. Check him out in action.

He's the first pitcher to throw with either hand in 20 years, according to ESPN, and wears a special six-fingered glove that fits on either hand while he hurls with the other.

Pretty awesome -- but not as awesome as seeing an amphibious pitcher take the mound. That's when we'll finally know we've made real progress toward becoming a better, more open and tolerant society.
