PayPal Mobile App Lets You Order Ahead at Restaurants

PayPal updated its iOS and Android apps on Thursday, adding the ability to order ahead from restaurants.

That feature, which PayPal had tested earlier this year, was made possible through a partnership with Eat24. About 1,000 restaurants will offer the service.

Other changes include a new tab called "Shop" that lets users find nearby stores or restaurants that accept PayPal. The tab also lets you check in a la Foursquare. Meanwhile, you can add new accounts to the payment system by snapping a picture of your credit card.

As with other mobile payment apps, like Google Wallet, utility depends on a great extent on the network of merchants that are offering support for the payment system. In PayPal's case, thousands of stores including Abercrombie & Fitch, The Home Depot and Toys "R" Us let you make mobile payments using PayPal's app.
