As flightless birds living in freezing temperatures, constantly being eaten by sea lions, penguins really drew the short straw in the evolution game.

But now, a few penguins at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California, have discovered the healing power of procrastination through iPad games, and things are finally turning around.

In this mini-documentary created by the website Cool Hunting, aviculturist Sara Mandel reveals that in order to stimulate the Magellanic penguins under her care, she gave them an iPad running Games for Cats, an app designed to keep animals entertained.

Mandel says that a few penguins are now obsessed with the game, allowing her to observe their health and status as they peck at the digital mice on the screen. Mandel even hints that the game might have something to do with the birth of a few penguins at the exhibit, meaning that mobile gaming is something of an aphrodisiac for penguins. Sure, why not?
