Penny Arcade Raises $200,000 in Two Days on Kickstarter

Looks like popular web comic Penny Arcade, which pledged on Kickstarter to remove ads for a year if it manages to raise $250,000, will meet its goal far quicker than anticipated.

The campaign, which started Tuesday, asked for at least $250,000 in donations by August 15. Less than two days later, and "Penny Arcade Sells Out" -- the official name of the Kickstarter project -- has already raised $196,000 from more than 2,780 backers.

Realizing they might meet and exceed their goal very soon, Penny Arcade founders Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins have updated their Kickstarter project with more "stretch goals" -- "rewards" that will be unlocked if the raised amount reaches certain milestones.

Currently, these go all the way up to $1.4 million. It may sound ambitious to some, but Penny Arcade is loved by many comic fans and gamers worldwide, and it wouldn't surprise us to see the campaign being an even bigger success than anticipated.
