Market researchers everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief.
A new app called Perch, by developers Closely, lets small businesses monitor and track the online activity of their competitors -- essentially, giving them a digital birds-eye view of their immediate competitive landscape.
Perch collects Facebook posts, tweets and pins from local competition. Then, every update is fed into an easy-to-read live stream on the app.
One major perk is the potential for quicker deals. For example, if a business sees a local competitor offering a deal through Facebook, they could "counter attack" the post by offering a better deal of their own. Even if you're not a small business owner, the app could still come in handy when you're trying to compare and track down specials.
Perch is free for both iOS and Android devices.
