Periscope's iOS app will now support live streaming from GoPro cameras, Twitter announced on Tuesday.
The update is available now and is compatible with Hero 4 cameras, though not the Hero 4 Session.

The new feature rolled out in an update to Periscope's iOS app. To use the new functionality, GoPro users need to connect their camera to their iPhone and the ability to live stream footage from the action camera will appear within the Periscope app.
While streaming, you can still use the iPhone app to see comments and hearts. GoPro videos are still saved locally to the camera's SD card. The app also allows you to switch between your iPhone's camera and the GoPro during a stream.
Unlike Meerkat's GoPro integration, Periscope's support will be limited to the black and silver versions of the Hero 4; the Hero 4 Session and other GoPro models aren't supported. The functionality is also limited to Periscope's iOS app. Twitter doesn't appear to have plans for a similar update to its Android app, though anyone can watch GoPro streams from the web or Periscope's apps.
Still, the update will likely be welcome news to action sports enthusiasts and others who frequently record point-of-view footage from GoPro's action cameras. It also means that live-streamers will be able to increase the quality of their broadcasts since GoPros have a wider variety of shooting modes.
Twitter also recently announced that Periscope videos will autoplay within tweets, so don't be surprised if you see GoPro broadcasts in your timeline soon.
