In its efforts to remain an ever-expanding network of aggregated content and communities, Sugar Inc. has just launched PetSugar, which is a site for pet lovers. To celebrate the launch, a $500 Petco gift certificate giveaway is going on at PetSugar's website.

PetSugar will work as most other communities for pet owners, with the ability to create a profile for your pet and connect with other furry animals online. What makes this a bit different from the likes of Dogster is the incorporation of Sugar's influence, which is girly and focuses on entertainment and gossip.

So you'll find reviews on pet products, a section for luxury gear and services, a page for celebrity pets, current pet trends, and even a gossip section for those animals that are worthy of being talked about. There's also the more practical stuff like a resource guide for training pets, teaching tricks, and an DIY section that's full of user-generated content from Sugar users.

As with other Sugar communities, PetSugar is integrated into the larger network of Sugar content, which now includes Digg clone, SugarLoving. The company has also acquired ShopStyle in recent weeks. In other news, United Dogs and Cats have recently been funded, and Dogster has reached the 500,000 mark.
