Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes died on Nov. 27, three days before his 26th birthday, after being hit by a cricket ball in a freak accident.
Hughes was memorialized today at a funeral service in his hometown of Macksvile, in New South Wales, where he grew up on a banana farm before he played cricket for South Australia, New South Wales and Australia.
Australian cricketers joined his family and politicians in a day of mourning for the young man lost suddenly on the cricket pitch. Australia is mourning alongside them for the Aussie cricket star taken too soon with a final score 63 not out.
