8 Photos That Capture a Fraction of a Second

Water droplets, ocean splashes, cliff jumps and objects in midair. This week's round of the Mashable Photo Challenge was all about freezing a moment in time. Guest curator Alex Koloskov, who specializes in splash photography, selected his favorite eight submissions.

"It was my first time judging an 'outside of the studio' photography competition," he said. "It was interesting to see how people find different ways to 'freeze' moments in time."

The submissions ranged from macro shots of water and bubbles to wider-angle photographs of people and animals jumping. You can view all of them here.

Check out Koloskov's picks and let us know which ones are your favorites in the comments. If you didn't get a chance to participate in this week's challenge, tune in for the next one, which we will announce on Thursday. We look forward to seeing your work!
