Distort Reality Through Reflection for Our Photo Challenge

For this week's Mashable Photo Challenge Guest Series, we want to see you use reflection to take a picture.

"Follow the light and use that as your guide to find the best reflections," said this week's guest curator, Dylan Isbell, a freelancer who has photographed for Newsweek, NPR and The Wall Street Journal, among others.

Be creative with this. There are many surfaces all around us that reflect -- windows, puddles, sunglasses, eyes and more. You can focus on yourself as a portrait, or show the surreal environment that surrounds you. A good reflection photo is one that possesses layers but does not rely on third-party layer apps.

Follow the directions below to submit your photo, and our guest curator will select some of the most compelling photographs to feature on Mashable.

How to Enter the Challenge

Tweet your photo of a "reflection" to @mashablehq with the hashtag #MashPics OR

Instagram your photo with the hashtag #MashPics OR

Upload your photo in the photo widget below OR

Post the link to your photo in the comments below

Dylan started his reflection series, which you can find on his Instagram, when he moved to New York. The photo above is a self portrait he took in a puddle in Brooklyn.

"There is so much to take in here," he said. "My reflections are a way of slowing it all down, trying to understand everything that's going on around me and subsequently fitting it all into one frame."

Submit your photos by Monday, July 15, at 12 p.m. ET. Dylan will choose his favorite submissions to feature on Mashable, as well as on our Facebook album, Pinterest board and Google+ page. We can't wait to see your photos!
