Photobucket has released a customized version of the Flock browser. The new release allows for easy linking of images on MySpace, Blogger and Livejournal - users just drag and drop photos from their desktop into blog entries and comment fields. Flock uploads the image to the user's Photobucket account and inserts the correct HTML. The browser also supports mass uploads and notifies users when their friends add new photos to their Photobucket accounts. What's more, you can browse Photobucket accounts from within the browser - when you hover over a Photobucket-hosted image, Flock gives the option to browse the member's entire account.

I've often thought that Flock was far too geeky - it's only useful if you're an early adopter and a heavy user of Flickr, del.icio.us and blogging tools. But that's no longer the case: this move takes Flock mainstream, reaching out to Photobucket's massive user base. Smart move.
