A magnitude 7.5 earthquake that struck northern Afghanistan claimed the lives of at least 260 people, injured more than 1,000 more and caused damage throughout areas of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.

Among the more tragic stories from the earthquake, a stampede caused by the earthquake claimed the lives of 12 schoolgirls and injured more than 40 others in the Takhar province of Afghanistan.

The earthquake also triggered landslides across the region and caused widespread devastation of homes, schools and other buildings, sending debris toppling to the ground, damaging cars and injuring those unfortunate enough to be be underneath.
