Photoswoot Image Browser has some Catching Up to Do

Swoot, the creator of browser skins, is launching Photoswoot today.

Photoswoot is a browser for your album. It's similar to a Photobucket slideshow in appearances, but the similarities stop there. Photoswoot is in fact a mini-browser, and cannot plug in easily to MySpace, hi5, Piczo, or anywhere for that matter. The best way to share a Photoswoot album is to email it out to friends. They'll get the link and have the option of downloading it themselves, if they'd like. Then the album will be available via their desktop anytime they'd like to see your lovely face.

The biggest drawback for Photoswoot is the necessity to download their plug-in to create an album, or even to view an album. This is a major hindrance for users, especially for those that would only want to view the photos. There are several widgets out there that have the same functionality but are easier to share with friends and family, and many widgets, like Yahoo's latest round, have desktop applications as well, giving you a multitude of image-viewing options.
