As all good photo-sharing services do, Picnik is making your edited photos available for use on several products, like mouse pads, calendars, and my personal favorite--wrapping paper (I like gifting). This is an expected move for Picnik, because the web-based photo-editing tool has already become known for its integrated approach to sharing media, and has made its application available through a number of partner sites and social networking platforms, from Box.net to MySpace.

With most other photo-sharing services, like Shutterfly, are seeing the revenue potential of directly offering products for user photos, it was only a matter of time before Picnik offered these options as well.

[img src="" caption="" credit="" alt=""]In another effort to grow its company, this time on a global scale, Picnik is also partnering with PhotoBox, a European service for sharing, storing and printing photos. As with most of Picnik's partnerships, its photo-editing tools will be integrated into PhotoBox's service, where users will be able to edit their photos directly from the service where they already store their photos.

This all comes at a time when the web-based photo-editing tools are battling to gain a dominant piece of market share, and that includes Adobe, which has recently released the public version of Photoshop Express. The battle is especially important for Adobe, as the company seeks a multi-pronged strategy for increasing its presence in the web-based market, the offline market, and the ability to straddle both, with its AIR platform.
