Walking the runway doesn't always refer to fashion.

For one badass Border Collie named Piper, it means patrolling the airplane runways at Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City, Michigan.

Piper has been "working" at the airport for a little over a year. His main duty is keeping wildlife off the runway, such as ducks, geese and foxes.

“Border Collies are born for this type of work, they’re herders,” Piper's owner and airport employee Brian Edwards told NBC News.

While Piper has become essential in keeping runways safe for planes, passengers, workers and wildlife alike, his attire is what draws the most attention.

“Rule No. 1 is to always look cool,” Edwards told NBC News.

While Piper may look like a rule breaker, lucky for owner Edwards, he always follows that #1 rule.
