Hailee Steinfeld is making a big leap from the a cappella world.
The 18-year-old actress and star of Pitch Perfect 2 has landed a record deal with Republic Records. She's currently working on her debut release. Other stars at the label, a division of Universal, include Ariana Grande and Lorde -- not a bad place for Steinfeld to start.
“Hailee is a multi-talented artist and among her many gifts, her voice is both unique and undeniable. It’s exciting to have her join the Republic family," Republic Records co-founder and CEO Monte Lipman said in a statement.

Steinfeld proved her singing chops in Pitch Perfect 2 with a cover of the song "Flashlight." The film's soundtrack debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Meanwhile, the film itself, which marked Elizabeth Banks' directorial debut, made $69.2 million in its opening weekend, making Pitch Perfect 2 the third biggest opening for a female director.
Steinfeld shot to fame in 2011 after starring in the Coen brothers western True Grit. At 14-years-old, she was nominated for a best supporting actress Oscar for her role.
Steinfeld also recently starred in Taylor Swift's celeb-packed "Bad Blood" music video, playing a group of triplets called the Trinity. The video also featured many other of Swift's BFFs, including Lena Dunham, Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, among others.

Steinfeld is working on her new project with Harvey Mason Jr., a songwriter and producer for artists such as Britney Spears and Jennifer Hudson, and Captain Cuts, a songwriting trio comprised of members from the band Grouplove.
