Pix-Yu Flickr Clone Needs New Approach

Pix-Yu is a new photo-sharing site that has pretty much taken the simplicity of Flickr and created its own site. The similarities between Pix-Yu and Flickr are what you'd expect from most newcomers in the photo-sharing industry. Subscription options allow you to follow certain users, thumbnails are prominent throughout the site (always surrounded by bountiful white space), you can add friends, access different image sizes, and leave comments. You can even add your Flickr photos.

But you can also create events. This is a structured way in which to organize albums of your choosing, specifically for an event. These event albums are separate from your regular albums, and can include such details as a date range and a Google map. While the events feature is pretty basic in Pix-Yu right now, I'm wondering if this is the direction that the company should move towards, in order to further differentiate itself as a Flickr clone. Not to say that Pix-Yu wouldn't then appear to be a clone of another photo-sharing site that already has a large focus on events, such as xakasha, but the organization of images around certain events seems to be a central feature of Pix-Yu that can be explored to a larger extent.
