Vending machines are meant to make life simpler, but most of the time they just make life weirder.
An Australian company has apparently decided that chips and chocolate are not hitting the spot, so they decided to shove a pizza in a vending machine to see what happens.
Cooking a pizza in a vending machine sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, yet Pompeii's Pizza in Bondi Beach, Sydney, disagree. They spent 18 months developing the $AUD40,000 italian-made oven in a vending machine, to present you with the perfect crust. It is called Pizza Gio and sits in the Westfield shopping centre in Chatswood.
Prawns are off the menu. You've got two choices -- hot salami or margarita -- in an 11-inch plate size. The machine gives a pre-cooked pizza a burst of insane heat and in three minutes you be indulging in a slice of fast-food gone wild. It costs a pretty hefty $12, which isn't small change for a pizza being prepared in a mystery cave, but worth it for the novelty factor alone.
It may be the first time Australia has had the pleasure of such a machine, but Let's Pizza from Italy were actually the first to deliver a pizza in this novel way. Their version was made from scratch and cooked in an infrared oven.
