In case you were running out of ways to send your friends a message, you can now do so with Sony's new messaging app, PlayStation Messages.

The new app focuses only on messages and is separate from the official PlayStation app, which brings you news, game alerts and invites and the ability to browse the PlayStation Store. Yup, exactly like the Facebook mobile app and its Messenger counterpart.

Sony is not looking to expand beyond the PlayStation universe here; the app is only for messaging your friends on PSN, and to use it, you'll need a PSN account.

In terms of features, PlayStation Messages shows you your PSN friends list, and lets you send texts or voice messages, as well as photos and stickers to them. You can also send messages to a group with up to 100 people, and easily access favorite message groups from your favorites list.

PlayStation Messages is available now, for iOS and Android.
