Everyone's new favorite dashing X-Wing pilot is getting his own comic book.
Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is coming from Marvel Comics in April, according to USA Today. Star Wars: Poe Dameron will be written by Charles Soule (Star Wars: Lando) and drawn by Phil Noto (Star Wars: Chewbacca).
“I’ve seen people on Twitter and Instagram looking for Poe Dameron in the comics," Noto says. "Now the pressure’s on us to deliver.”

Dameron, a new fan favorite, is perfect for a comic because he "grew up steeped in the Rebellion and the older Republic and all of those myths and legends," Soule says.
“If you think about it, he grew up the way we did, hearing all of these stories," he adds.

The series will focus on the time period right before the opening of The Force Awakens (sorry shippers, that likely means no Poe + Finn scenes), when Dameron gets a key from Lor San Tekka (played by Max Von Sydow) to find Luke Skywalker. Here's what else the plot entails, according to USA Today's Brian Truitt:
"The series will dig into Poe's status as the top X-wing fighter jockey for General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) and leader of a squadron with an important mission. But the evil First Order also has a goal of finding Luke, and a new villain from the organization is introduced as Poe’s chief nemesis."
Soule adds that the new bad guy is "going to feel fresh and cool," but the series overall will not include a lot of flashback scenes.

In addition, the series will add details about "Poe’s personality, explore locations new and old in the Star Wars galaxy, showcase legacy characters and other rookies." Plus, everyone's favorite little soccer ball of a droid, BB-8, is coming along for the ride.
